Monthly "Honor Our Heroes" Parties
for OIF/OEF Patients at WRAMC

Beginning in July of 2003, Karen Theobald and Maryellen Murphy began to host regular birthday parties for hospitalized OIF/OEF patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Due to the wonderful participation, it was decided to host a regular monthly event to honor all our heroes, and allow all OIF/OEF patients to attend.

Until all of our military comes home, the "Honor Our Heroes" party is on the second Saturday of every month from noon until 3pm. Lunch and hospitality are served up for these special honorees. Games, singing, and special guests are regularly lined up.

Adult visitors are encouraged to attend AFTER they have signed up with the HOHF as a volunteer. Due to security and space, the parties are limited to a designated number of guests at each outing. Please send an email to events@hohf.org if you would like to be invited to attend in the future.

Guests may bring small gifts, cards, etc. which will be shared with the patients as a whole. Due to health and security restrictions no home-baked goods are allowed.

Since April of 2004, Minister Leslie Oakes of St. Thomas of Manassas church and her friend Mrs. Jean Pitt have provided the catered lunch, birthday cakes, and the volunteers to serve and arrange the meal. Thank you!
