Fall Yard Sale for OIF/OEF patients in Washington, D.C. area

Saturday, November 19, 2005 - WASHINGTON, D.C. -- HOHF is organizing a Fall Yard Sale to provide much needed housing items for those medical hold patients of OIF and OEF whom have been indefinitely relocated to the Washington, DC area. Volunteers are needed to collect donated items and assist with the sale.

Volunteers will collect gently used and clean (this is NOT a garbage collection) items such as bakeware, pots and pans, flatware, everyday plates, cups, mugs, furniture (must be easily transported on pick-up trucks as we will have to help arrange delivery), rugs, vacuums, landline telephones, irons, ironing boards, blankets, sheets, towels, etc.

Items can be dropped off the day before the event (Friday) and the sale will take place on a Saturday. Donations will be accepted on Friday, November 18, from noon until 9 p.m. at the following location:

Church of Christ
4801 16th Street, NW
Washington, DC 20011

Patients will be asked to register to attend the event and will each be given an equal amount of play money per patient to shop with. Items will be priced by category in order to make the selection process fair and everyone able to go away with something that they need.

Volunteers will be needed for the Friday evening prior to the sale to price and organize items as they are delivered. Sale day volunteers will organize the sale, assist with arranging local delivery, and assist with take down and clean up.
